The following are changes to our stray dog procedure. Effective immediately, our animal control Officer, Allen Strickler, will be taking stray dogs to Brandywine Veterinary Hospital (BVH). Since the contract that we held with the Chester County SPCA was canceled by the SPCA, we joined several other local municipalities and entered into a contract with the Brandywine Vet Hospital.
Mr. Strickler will first attempt to find the owner of a dog that he apprehends, but will take the dog to BVH, located at 1270 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 . If your dog is placed at BVH, you may retrieve the animal from BVH during their normal operating hours which are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM.
As we have done in the past, any owner of a stray will be responsible for the expenses incurred by the Township in picking up, delivering and housing your stray. Please feel free to contact the township with any questions that you may have regarding these changes.
